The Government of Alberta is trying to limit non-essential close interactions in the community in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, while at the same time keeping people out of emergency departments for services that regulated health professionals can provide in the community.

As our world is quickly changing we are doing our best to respond. At this time when the news is dominated by COVID-19, we wanted to personally reach out and let you know that we are vigilantly implementing enhanced protocols to ensure your safety at Thrive.
We are closely monitoring the guidance of the World Health Organization and Alberta Health Services regarding the spread of the virus. Our focus is on continuing to provide you with the highest level of care while taking the appropriate steps to ensure your safety.
How can you help us maintain a safe environment? We ask that you not come to the clinic if:
You have traveled outside Canada in the last 2 weeks
You have a fever, cough and/or difficulty breathing
You have had close contact with a person with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19
You have had close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness, who was in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Iran, South Korea, Japan or Italy in the last two weeks
The Thrive team has had quite the day yesterday (August 8, 2018).
After seeing a dark spot develop in her vision in the afternoon, Maggie went to check in with her optometrist. The optometrist quickly diagnosed her with a detached retina. Dr. Kate and Maggie headed out to Calgary to Rockyview Hospital where they met an eye specialist, did more testing and she headed into surgery at 12:00 a.m. midnight. By 3:00 a.m. Maggie came to - the surgery was successful. Her recovery will be about 3 weeks.
We know you all love Maggie and will be thinking of her! She’s looking for podcast, audiobook and Netflix recommendations. :) We will be providing updates to our Thrive community via our Facebook page. <3

We’ve been getting a lot of questions recently about people trying to clean up their diet - staying away from prepackaged (or fast) food. So we thought we would share some of our favourite recipes with all of you throughout the next couple of weeks.
For this week we’ve got a tasty caesar salad for you. A really easy and fast way to prep for the week is to make a big salad and just add the dressing the day of. Most people do this but then add a commercial salad dressing which is full of preservatives, fillers and lots of sugar which increases inflammation in your body and gut and reduces the overall healthiness of the salad.
Always be sure to add nuts and seeds to your salad, not only is this a tasty addition but it’s also a great source of nutrients for your brain and body. This salad can be modified for vegetarians or you can add bacon or chicken for some extra protein.
We are sad to announce that January will be Chelsie Cameron’s last month with us. She has been an incredible office manager and one of the friendly faces that greets you each time you come to Thrive. She has endless energy, a big heart and adds so much value to our Thrive community. Chelsie was offered an exciting position, heading back to her roots, working with animals, but has promised that she will be back to visit frequently. We are grateful that we were part of her journey (even for this short time) and wish her the best of luck in this next endeavour.
Here we are in the midst of the holiday season, a time for family, friends and cheer. However, as many of you know sometimes there’s something else that comes with the holidays… stress! We know there’s such a thing as too much family time and that’s why self-care is so important. Stress is a normal part of our lives - but it’s always good to keep it at a minimal. Here are some quick and easy ways to reduce the stress this holiday season:
1. Breath deeply
Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in our body. When you breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain telling it to chill out! The brain then sends this message to your body, resulting in reduced stress and anxiety.
